US Senator Bernie Sanders on Tuesday called for an end to military aid to Israel, condemning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for resuming bombing in Gaza.
“Netanyahu has not allowed any food, water, or fuel into Gaza in two weeks. Now he has resumed bombing, killing hundreds of people and breaking the ceasefire that had given Gaza a chance to live again," Sanders wrote on X.
"NO MORE MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL,” he added.
Washington has long been criticized for its support for Israel's genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army’s latest strikes killed over 404 people, mostly civilians, including women and children, breaking a ceasefire agreement that took effect on Jan. 19, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
More than 48,500 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 112,000 others injured in a brutal Israeli military campaign in Gaza since October 2023.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
