Woman burned to death in New York City subway attack identified
Debrina Kawam, 61, was asleep in subway car in Brooklyn when man set her on fire
WASHINGTON
Police announced Tuesday that they have identified the victim of a New York City fatal subway arson attack.
The 61-year-old woman, Debrina Kawam, resided in Toms River, New Jersey, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Kawam was asleep on a subway car in Brooklyn on Dec. 22 when a man set her on fire and fled.
Sebastian Zapeta, 33, was taken into custody and has since been indicted on murder and arson charges.
Zapeta is from Guatemala and entered the US illegally, according to officials.
