All-clear at White House after lockdown
Report of unattended package at nearby park forces hour-long lockdown
WASHINGTON
The U.S. Secret Service gave an all-clear at the White House on Wednesday after investigating a suspicious package left unattended at a park near the structure, an agency spokeswoman said.
Lafayette Park and the White House were on lockdown for an hour after the package was reported to the agency in the afternoon, according Nicole Mainor.
A bomb technician and the Washington, D.C. fire department were called in to examine the package, Mainor said, who added that President Barack Obama was not at the White House at the time.
During the lock down, no one was allowed to enter or leave the White House.
