Alternatifbank Corp. is a mid-size Turkish bank, predominately serving medium scale companies. The bank's primary activities consist of corporate, commercial and individual banking; the latter is mainly geared toward deposit taking and asset management services.
ABank was established in 1991 and became a listed company in 1995, when it offered 20 percent of its shares to the public. The following year, the Anadolu Group, one of Turkey's leading conglomerates, purchased 80 percent of ABank's shares from the Dogan Group. Today, the Anadolu Group owns 96 percent of ABank's shares, with the remaining 4 percent publicly traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
