Crane collapse victims laid to rest in Saudi Arabia
107 people were killed last Friday when massive crane collapsed in Makkah’s Sacred Mosque

MAKKAH, Saudi Arabia
Several of the victims of last Friday’s deadly crane collapse in Makkah were buried on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
A total of 107 people were killed last Friday when a massive crane collapsed in Makkah’s Sacred Mosque, which had been teeming with worshippers performing the annual Hajj pilgrimage when the accident occurred.
Islamic funeral prayers were performed for 29 of the victims on Tuesday, including two Turkish nationals.
Another five Turkish nationals also killed in the accident are expected to be buried later today.
All the victims will be buried in Martyrs’ Cemetery, which is situated adjacent to the mosque.
Saudi officials have attributed the accident to strong winds that caused a part of the crane to fall inside the mosque, which is currently undergoing extensive expansion works.
