EU RELEASES 2009 PROGRESS REPORT FOR TURKEY (2)
BRUSSELS - The European Commission said on Wednesday that Turkey played a key role in enhancing dialogue among civilizations, regional stability and energy supply.

Turkey started to make more contributions to stability in problematic regions like the Middle East and Caucasus, the strategy paper said.
It said Turkey exerted great efforts for normalization of its relations with Armenia, and recalled that the two countries signed two historic protocols in Zurich on October 10.
Turkey strengthened its diplomatic relations with Iraq including regional administration in the north of Iraq, the paper said.
In regard to the Nabucco gas pipeline project which will ease dependency on Russia, the strategy paper said that EU attached a great importance to the Nabucco agreement which was signed in Turkey.
The paper said Turkey should reinforce its political reform efforts.
"Turkey kept improving its capacity of fulfilling its duties for the membership," it said.
