Two Pakistani soldiers were killed when a bomb disposal squad was attacked in the southwestern Balochistan province on Sunday.
A bomb disposal squad was clearing landmines in the Ankara Kaur Dam area of coastal Gwadar district “when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on them,” the daily Dawn reported on Monday.
Four other soldiers were injured.
The attack on the bomb disposal squad came days after a team of five Chinese engineers and their driver were killed while they were on their way to a work site in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Pakistan has seen incidents of militants increase in the past few years.
In the first three months of the ongoing year, the two provinces reported most of the attacks amounting to 86% of 245 incidents during which 432 fatalities and 370 injuries were recorded.
