At least 46 people have been missing after two buses were buried due to landslides in the Philippines.

The incident happened late Tuesday evening at the Apex Mining Company site in the Maco area of Davao de Oro province in the Mindanao region, Manila-based Rappler news reported.

Bodies of six people were retrieved from mud and rocks while Filipino soldiers joined search and rescue efforts to find missing people.

The landslides hit the waiting area where Filipino workers were aboard the two buses at around 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday (1130GMT).​​​​​​​

Some 31 people were injured and have been under treatment, while hundreds of families have been evacuated from the area.
