At least four people, including an Austrian national, were killed when an old bridge collapsed in the Philippines' Bohol province, local media reported on Thursday.

The Philippine News Agency reported that the Loay-Clarin Bridge over the Loboc River in the town of Loay collapsed on Wednesday afternoon due to overloading.

Confirming the number of deaths, Bohol Governor Arthur Yap said that at least 12 vehicles fell into the river after the bridge collapsed, and added that overcrowding was a factor in the tragedy.

He said 20 people were rescued from the river.
