Chinese National People’s Congress to convene on March 5
With over 2,900 members, 14th legislature to meet in Beijing for 3rd session
ISTANBUL
China’s National People's Congress (NPC), the country’s top legislature, will convene on March 5 next year in Beijing, a statement said on Wednesday.
The 14th Congress will hold its third annual session in the Chinese capital, according to the NPC Standing Committee.
With 170 members, the NPC Standing Committee held its session from Saturday till Wednesday, where it decided to convene the top legislature which has over 2,900 members.
Lawmakers will review the government work report, implementation of the annual plan, central and local budgets, as well the draft plan on national economic and social development for 2025.
The 14th Congress was elected in 2022 and held its first session in March 2023, and second early this year.
Besides, the NPC, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country’s top political advisory body, will also convene on March 4.
China's annual parliamentary meetings, known as the “two sessions”, are mostly held in early March.
