French President Emmanuel Macron appeared to ignore Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handshake attempt during the AI summit in Paris on Tuesday, footage from the event showed.

Video footage captured Modi extending his hand toward Macron, who did not reciprocate before engaging with other attendees.

Macron was seen exchanging pleasantries and greetings with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, among other leaders.

The incident has sparked reaction on social media, with some interpreting it as a diplomatic slight, while others suggested it may have been unintentional.

Neither the French nor the Indian government has made any comment on the exchange.

The 3rd Artificial Intelligence Action Summit was held in Paris under the co-chairmanship of France and India.
