Germany to cooperate with Uzbekistan for evacuation of citizens from Afghanistan
German, Uzbek leaders hold phone call discussing situation in Afghanistan, bilateral relations
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan
The presidents of Germany and Uzbekistan agreed Tuesday to cooperate on the evacuation of German citizens from Afghanistan.
According to the press office of the Presidency of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Frank-Walter Steinmeier held a phone call, during which bilateral relations were also discussed.
The two presidents, who exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, said the escalation of military-political tensions in the country could have serious negative effects on regional and international security.
They agreed to closely coordinate efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the Afghan conflict and to hold regular political consultations on the situation in the region.
