ANKARA

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Friday held a last meeting of his Cabinet and thanked them for their support and cooperation during his term, local media said on Friday.

In a final emotional speech, Widodo also offered an apology for any shortcomings during his leadership, the Jakarta Globe reported.

The meeting was also attended by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, who is set to take the presidential oath of office on Sunday following his victory in February’s election.

"I want to thank you all for your support and hard work for this nation," said Widodo.

Widodo is expected to move back to his hometown Solo, central Java, as he told Cabinet members that his door would always be open if they want to visit him there.

Widodo, popularly known as Jokowi, is set to step down on Oct. 20 after a decade as president of Indonesia, which boasts Southeast Asia’s largest economy.

Widodo, 62, was first elected president in 2014 after serving as governor of Indonesia's capital Jakarta.
