Two US servicemen from the Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni base have been charged with two separate breaches of local law, including trespassing, assault, and theft, Japanese media reported on Wednesday.

Both cases have been handed over to Japanese police for further investigation in Yamaguchi province, the daily Mainichi reported.

One of the servicemen was injured during a trespassing incident last November.

Japan, which hosts over 50,000 US soldiers under a bilateral defense treaty, has seen numerous cases of alleged misconduct by American soldiers.
