Kyrgyzstan’s President Almazbek Atambayev has assigned the Socialist Democratic Party leader to form a coalition government after the country's government resigned Wednesday.
Atambayev received Isa Omurkulov, who is supposed to form a coalition by Nov. 17 with at least three parties in parliament.
Earlier Wednesday the president’s Socialist Democratic Party quit the coalition, which had been formed by four parties in April, according to a presidential press center statement.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov will remain prime minister until a new government is formed, the statement added.
Atambayev had announced earlier this week that his Socialist Democratic Party could no longer work with the Ata Meken Party due to the latter’s refusal to back constitutional reforms.
