China on Tuesday urged the US to listen to rational voices and provide non-discriminatory business environment to all entities operating in the US.

Responding to a question on US President Donald Trump’s signing an executive order to delay the TikTok ban by 75 days, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that TikTok is operating in the US for many years and very popular among American users, Global Times reported.

"We hope the US will seriously listen to rational voices and provide an open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory business environment for market entities from all countries operating in the US," Guo said, adding TikTok has played a positive role in promoting domestic employment and boosting consumption in the US.

The spokesperson said that as for business operations and acquisitions, they should be independently decided based on market principles.

"If Chinese companies are involved, such actions should comply with Chinese laws and regulations," said Guo.

On Monday, President Trump signed an executive order in an attempt to delay a ban of the popular short-video app TikTok.

On Friday, the US Supreme Court upheld a law that would ban TikTok unless its Chinese-based parent company, ByteDance, divests from the app.

After going offline earlier Sunday, TikTok announced that it was in the process of restoring services to its US users following assurances from Trump.
