Russia says its forces captured another village in eastern Ukraine A Ukrainian village

ISTANBUL

Russia claimed on Wednesday that its forces had taken control of another village as part of their ongoing offensive in eastern Ukraine.

A statement from the Russian Defense Ministry said its forces had captured the village of Pryvilne, located approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) west of the strategic town of Velyka Novosilka, which Moscow claimed to have seized on Jan. 27.

Velyka Novosilka lies about 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) from the junction of Ukraine’s Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s General Staff said earlier that its forces had repelled two Russian attempts to break through defenses near Pryvilne and the nearby settlement of Charivne.

Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on Russia’s claim, and independent verification remains difficult due to the ongoing war.
