Taiwan has reported no local case of the novel coronavirus for over two months, local media reported on Wednesday.

Addressing a news conference in the capital Taipei, Taiwan’s Minister of Health and Welfare Chen Shih-chung said no local infection was reported over the past 66 days, according to Taiwan News.

However, there has been a flow of coronavirus cases coming from outside the island state.

Two cases of the COVID-19 were reported after two persons from Bangladesh returned to Taipei last Monday, taking the total number of cases to 445.

Taiwan has carried out 74,699 coronavirus tests since the outbreak.

Of the total confirmed cases, 354 were imported, 55 were local, and 36 came from the navy's "Goodwill Fleet”.

Seven patients have lost battle against the infection, while 434 have been discharged from hospitals after complete recovery. Four people are under treatment for COVID-19.
