The Thailand Grand Prix was rescheduled for early October after being postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, Moto GP said Thursday.

"MotoGP™ will now head to the Chang International Circuit in Buriram over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of October," organizers said in a statement on its website.

It added the Aragon Grand Prix in Spain scheduled for that date would take place Sept. 26 - 27.

And the Thai Grand Prix, scheduled March 22, was postponed because of the spread of the virus.

The global death toll from the virus known as COVID-19 nears 3,500, with more than 95,000 diagnosed cases, according to the World Health Organization.
