ISTANBUL
Ukraine on Thursday said that it struck an airfield in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region.
A statement by Ukraine's General Staff said that the overnight strike on the airfield near the town of Primorsko-Akhtarsk was carried out in cooperation with other components of the country's Defense Forces.
It said the airfield was used for the storage, preparation and launch of drones toward Ukrainian territory, as well as servicing Russian aircraft taking military actions over the country's Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on the claim, and independent verification of the claim is difficult due to the ongoing war.
The Ukrainian General Staff said that strikes on facilities supporting Russia’s military actions in Ukraine would continue.
Earlier, Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that it intercepted 28 Ukrainian drones overnight, and six of the drones were shot down over the Krasnodar region.
