American band Green Day on Friday called off their Asia tour scheduled for March and April due to the coronavirus pandemic and travel curbs.

“We regretfully announce that due to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns and travel restrictions, Green Day – Live in Hong Kong and Singapore, scheduled to be held on 19 March 2021 and 1 April 2021, respectively, will be cancelled,” organizer Lushington Entertainments announced on social media.

“The band would like to thank all fans for patience and understanding, and we hope to stage the shows in Hong Kong and Singapore in the future.”

MMI Live and Live Nation, organizers for events in the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and South Korea, also confirmed that the concerts have been cancelled.

Green Day was due to perform in Manila on March 13, Taipei on March 16, Bangkok on March 21, and Seoul on March 24.

The tour was initially scheduled for March last year but was pushed forward due to the virus pandemic.

People who have purchased tickets will receive a full refund, organizers said.
