KIEV, Ukraine 

More cases of the novel coronavirus and fatalities were reported in Central Asian and Eurasian countries on Saturday.

Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan reported 1,289 more infections, bringing its total to 90,367, while recoveries rose by 1,308 to reach 60,825.

A total of 793 virus patients died in the Central Asian country so far, with nearly 30,000 still under treatment.

Ukraine

The Health Ministry in Ukraine said 1,172 more people tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, raising the total count to 71,056.

He said 16 more fatalities pushed the death toll up to 1,709, while recoveries increased by 556 to reach 39,308.

Kyrgyzstan

Health Ministry official Aynura Akmatova, said coronavirus cases and deaths had risen to 36,299 and 1,397, respectively.

Over 26,426 people have recovered from the virus so far, Akmatova added.

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's Health Ministry reported 531 more virus cases, bringing the total to 24,304, as four more fatalities pushed the death toll to 143.

With 260 additions, the number of recoveries reached 14,464, while near 9,700 patients remain hospitalized.

Armenia

Armenia's COVID-19 case count rose by 291 to reach 38,841.

Eleven more patients died over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 749, while 29,557 people have now recovered in the country.

Armenia has administered at least 165,656 coronavirus tests so far.

Georgia

Three more people tested positive in Georgia over the past 24 hours, the country's Health Ministry reported on Saturday.

The new cases brought the country's total to 1,212, including 17 fatalities and 947 recoveries.

Moldova

Moldova reported 380 more COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 25,113.

At least 10 fatalities were recorded over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 788, while recoveries in the country stand at 17,571.

Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan reported 279 more virus cases, taking its total to 32,157, including 454 deaths and 26,474 recoveries.

A total of 5,229 patients are still receiving medical treatment in the country, which has conducted over 732,000 tests so far.

Uzbekistan

At least 256 more infections raised Uzbekistan’s overall count to 24,569, as the death toll increased by one to reach 144.

A total of 452 recoveries over the past 24 hours raised the total to 14,916.

According to the Health Ministry, 9,508 patients remain under treatment, while around 95,000 more are under medical surveillance.

Belarus

The COVID-19 case count in Belarus increased by 138 people to reach 67,946, as four more fatalities took the death toll to 563.

A total of 21,686 patients have recovered in the country so far.

Tajikistan

Tajikistan reported 42 more cases over the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 7,451, including 60 deaths.

A total of 6,233 patients have recovered so far, while 1,158 remain under treatment.

Worldwide

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed over 680,500 lives in at least 188 countries and regions since last December.

Nearly 17.64 million cases have been reported worldwide, with the US, Brazil, India, and Russia currently the hardest-hit countries, according to figures compiled by the US’ Johns Hopkins University.

The data shows more than half of all patients – over 10.36 million – have recovered so far.
