China is ready to work with Indonesia to take strategic cooperation to a higher level as the visions of the two countries are "highly aligned," said the Chinese president on Thursday.

After a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Jokowi Widodo in Chengdu city, the capital of the southwestern Sichuan province of China, on Thursday, President Xi Jinping noted: “Visions of China and Indonesia are highly aligned and the two countries are each other’s opportunity for development,” tweeted Hua Chunying, spokeswoman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Jokowi's visit coincides with the 10-year comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China.

“As the two countries mark 10 years of comprehensive strategic partnership, China is ready to work with Indonesia to take strategic cooperation to a higher level, set an example of unity, cooperation, and shared development between developing countries, and bring more certainty and positive energy to the region and the wider world,” Xi said.

Before flying to China, Jokowi had said he will discuss a number of priority agendas with Xi, including investment in the fields of trade and health, as well as regional and global issues.

Jokowi is in China to attend the World University Games beginning in China’s Chengdu city on Friday.

Both members of G-20, China is Indonesia's largest trade and investment partner.
