Anadolu Agency photographer Amine Landoulsi, who works in the agency’s Tunisia office, won the prize for best photo at Tunisia’s Carthage International Festival.
Winners were announced at a press conference held in capital Tunis, where the program of the 53rd Carthage Festival was unveiled.
“I’m very proud to receive this award,” Landoulsi told Anadolu Agency.
“I would like to thank both the festival organizers and Anadolu Agency, headed by Director-General Senol Kazanci, who for four years has been keen to publish my pictures internationally,” the photographer said.
“I would also like to thank my family and my colleagues at Anadolu Agency for all their support,” he added.
Captured in Tunisia on Aug. 13, which coincides with Tunisian Women's Day, the winning photo portrays a woman dancing in the middle of a festival.
Festival spokesman Mohamed Bougblab told Anadolu Agency: “Landoulsi’s photo won the award due to its artistic merits.”
Moufida Khalil, a journalist for Al-Maghreb newspaper, meanwhile, won the award for best newspaper article.
The festival will be held in Tunis from July 13 to Aug. 19 with the participation of artists from both the Arab world -- especially Tunisia -- and the West.
