TUNIS
Turkish Parliamentary Speaker Cemil Çiçek on Thursday paid a visit to Anadolu Agency's news bureau in Tunisian capital Tunis.
Çiçek, currently on an official visit to the North African country, commended the agency's ability to achieve international prominence within such a short period.
He also congratulated the agency on the launch of their trial French-language bulletin, which he described as an "important addition" to the agency's track record.
According to Tunisian government sources, Çiçek arrived in Tunisia on Thursday to take part in official celebrations on Friday to mark the endorsement of the country's new constitution.
The sources added that Çiçek's visit would last for two days, during which he was expected to meet with a handful of Tunisian officials, including interim president Moncef Marzouki.
Turkish-Tunisian relations have taken major strides since the 2011 popular uprising that ended the rule of long-serving president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
Turkish Ambassador to Tunisia Ömer Gücük accompanied Çiçek on the latter's visit to the local AA bureau.
