8th Red Tulip Film Festival begins in Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM
The 8th Red Tulip Film Festival, aiming to promote Turkish films in the Netherlands, began Friday amid a three-year break because of the coronavirus.
The event screened Leyla Hanım, a film directed by Ilke Isisag, depicting the life of Leyla Atakan, Türkiye's first elected female mayor, at the opening in Rotterdam.
Isisag answered questions from the audience via videoconference at the end of the screening.
Nine Turkish films will be screened in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Deventer during the festival which is backed by Türkiye’s Yunus Emre Institute.
The festival will end Oct. 15.
