Italian tenor raises voice for stray animals

IZMIR, Turkey

Italian tenor Alessandro Safina will perform on Sunday to raise awareness for stray animals in the Turkish Aegean resort town of Cesme. 

Izmir Philharmonic Orchestra and Paraguayan instrumentalist Victor Espinonala, best known for playing the harp, will be joining the Italian tenor on Cesme Openair Theatre’s stage.

The concert has been organized by the Cesme Alacati Nature and Animal Lovers Association.

Income generated from the concert will be used for the benefit of stray animals in Cesme Peninsula in Izmir.

Safina is widely referred to as ‘Pavarotti’ of today due to his powerful voice.

The 56-year-old star's biggest hit to date is Luna (Only You), which was part of the soundtrack for Portuguese TV series 'O clone’ ('The Clone’).

He has recorded several albums; Alessandro Safina (2001), Insieme a Te (2002), Musica Di Te (2003) and Sognami (2007).
