A city promotion tour event will be held in Türkiye's western Afyonkarahisar province for international media members from May 31 - June 2.
The event, which will be organized under the auspices of the Afyonkarahisar Governorship and coordinated by the Zafer Development Agency, will be supported by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency as well as Afyon Kocatepe University.
Representatives of international news agencies and influencers will showcase the historical and cultural richness of Afyonkarahisar to the world during the three-day event.
It aims to contribute to the international recognition of Afyonkarahisar.
Media members visited the office of the governor of Afyonkarahisar on Friday.
Deputy Gov. Fatih Topuz said: “Afyonkarahisar is known as the center of victory, thermal tourism, marble and flavor.”
Topuz expressed optimism that Afyonkarahisar will advance in tourism and attract more tourists.
The delegation then visited the Afyonkarahisar Museum, Ulu (Grand) Mosque, Afyonkarahisar Castle, Historical Mansions, Mevlevi Lodge and Historical Tashan Bazaar.
On Saturday, the delegation will experience a hot air balloon and a boat tour at Emre Lake in the Phrygian Valley.
They will then visit Ayazini Village, the heart of Phrygia and the religious center of the Roman and Byzantine empires, as well as churches, tombs and the Avdalaz castle in the area.
The gastronomic richness of Afyonkarahisar will also be presented to the delegation, and workshops will be conducted by the Afyonkarahisar Professional Chefs Association.
Afyonkarahisar cuisine, which is included in the Creative Cities Network in the field of gastronomy by UNESCO, has a rich diversity with its traditional flavors.
On the final day, the program will conclude with a visit to Akdag National Park, which is a very special nature park located within the borders of the Sandikli district of Afyonkarahisar.
