Apple announced on Monday that it will invest $500 billion in the US in the next four years, expanding teams and facilities in Michigan, Texas, California, Arizona, Nevada, Iowa, Oregon, North Carolina, and Washington.

"Plans include a new factory in Texas, doubling the U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund, a manufacturing academy, and accelerated investments in AI and silicon engineering," Apple said in a statement.

Earlier on Friday, US President Donald Trump said: "I had Tim Cook in the office from Apple. He's investing hundreds of billions of dollars."

Cook is shifting Apple manufacturing from Mexico to the US, according to the president, who noted: "We're going to have a lot of chip makers coming in, a lot of automakers coming in. They stopped two plants in Mexico. They just stopped them. They're going to build here instead because they don't want to pay the tariffs. The tariffs are amazing. It's good."

Cook said in Monday's press release that Apple is bullish on the future of American innovation, "We’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future."

As part of this package of US investments, the tech giant and partners will open a new advanced manufacturing facility in Houston to produce servers that support Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done, the statement read.

Apple said: "The $500 billion commitment includes Apple’s work with thousands of suppliers across all 50 states, direct employment, Apple Intelligence infrastructure and data centers, corporate facilities, and Apple TV+ productions in 20 states.

"Apple remains one of the largest U.S. taxpayers, having paid more than $75 billion in U.S. taxes over the past five years, including $19 billion in 2024 alone."

Following Apple's statement, Trump said on the social media platform Truth: "Apple has just announced a record 500 billion dollar, investment in the United States of America.

"The reason, faith in what we are doing, without witch, they wouldn't be investing ten cents. Thank you Tim Cook and Apple!"
