US aerospace company Boeing outsold its European rival Airbus, logging 909 gross orders for aircraft in 2021, data showed Tuesday.
Despite doubling its gross order intake in 2021 compared to a year earlier with 771 new sales, Airbus surrendered the crown to Boeing for the first time in three years.
However, Airbus remained the world's largest airliner manufacturer by delivering 611 planes last year, an 8% rise from 2020.
Boeing delivered 340 jets in 2021, led largely by the 737 Max, which was grounded for nearly two years after it was tied to two crashes that claimed 346 lives.
