ExxonMobil made two hydrocarbon discoveries offshore Guyana, the company announced in a statement on Wednesday.
The hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone discoveries were made at the Sailfin-1 and Yarrow-1 wells in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana, bringing the total number of discoveries to more than 30 on the block since 2015.
By the end of the decade, ExxonMobil expects Guyana’s oil production capacity to be more than one million barrels a day.
"We are committed to responsibly and safely developing this world-class resource to help meet global demand for secure, reliable and lower-emission energy," Liam Mallon, president of ExxonMobil Upstream, was quoted as saying in the statement.
