Fed's Beige Book reveals concerns about impact of tariffs on prices

ISTANBUL

The US Federal Reserve's Beige Book report released Wednesday revealed concerns about the impact of tariffs on prices related to input costs.

According to a statement by the Fed, most of the 12 Federal Reserve Districts expected price rises related to President Donald Trump's tariff policies.

The report, with analysis from the Fed's 12 branches, said that overall economic activity had increased slightly since mid-January.

"Firms in multiple districts noted difficulty passing input costs on to customers," it highlighted.

The report noted that prices increased moderately in most districts and input price pressures were generally greater than sales price pressures, particularly in manufacturing and construction.

"Many Districts noted that higher prices for eggs and other food ingredients were impacting food processors and restaurants," it added.
