While unemployment among age groups and men posts decreases, women’s unemployment sees increase

France’s unemployment rate falls in Q2

ISTANBUL 

France’s unemployment rate decreased 0.2% quarter-on-quarter to 7.3% in the second quarter of the year, official data showed.

The number of unemployed people in France fell over 40,000 to 2.3 million, the country’s statistical institute Insee revealed on Friday.

Among people aged 15 – 24, the unemployment rate decreased 0.4% on a quarterly basis to 17.7%, while the unemployment rate among people aged 25 – 49 fell 0.1% to 6.7% in the same period.

Meanwhile, women’s unemployment climbed 0.1% to 7.4% and men’s unemployment decreased 0.3% to 7.3%.

The unemployment rate for people aged 50 and above stayed horizontal quarter-on-quarter at 7.3%, according to Insee.
