ISTANBUL

Germany's import prices posted a slight increase in August with 0.2% year-on-year, the country’s statistical office revealed on Monday.

Higher consumer goods prices had the biggest impact on the import prices in the month, while non-durables and durable consumer goods followed it, according to Destatis data.

The prices of energy imports dropped by 5.4% compared with August 2023.

Export prices, meanwhile, were 0.8% higher than in August 2023, Destatis said, with the rise in the prices of intermediate goods having the biggest influence.
