Ireland’s annual GDP down 1.4% in Q2, preliminary figures show

Ireland’s gross domestic product (GDP) declined 1.4% in the second quarter of the year compared to the same quarter last year, according to preliminary figures.
The Irish Central Statistics Office (CSO) said on Monday that the results of the first half’s GDP show a 3.1% decline from last year’s first half.
On a quarterly basis, Ireland’s GDP climbed 1.2% in the second quarter of the year compared to the last quarter due to an increase in the country’s industry sector, data showed.
