ISTANBUL

Japan's biggest economy newspaper Nikkei's CEO said that they opened a bureau in Istanbul, because Turkish economy was growing fast.

As an economy newspaper, Nikkei wanted to take part in countries where economy was growing fast, Nikkei's CEO Tsuneo Kita told AA correspondent.
"Turkey is growing rapidly and it also has a potential to grow in the future," Kita said.
There have been sound relations between Turkey and Japan, he said and added, "we have very good relations, but there is a potential to boost these ties. That's why we should know better each other. There is need for more interaction. This is another reason for opening an office in Istanbul."
The office of Nikkei in Istanbul would not only make news reports about Turkey, but also would be a regional office, he said.
Known as The Nikkei, Nihon Keizai Shimbun (which means 'Japan Economic Times' ) is the flagship newspaper of the Nikkei group and the largest financial newspaper in the world. It is one of Japan's five "national newspapers," along with Asahi Shimbun, Mainichi Shimbun, Sankei Shimbun, and Yomiuri Shimbun. The Nikkei also owns TV Tokyo and Nikkei CNBC, which provides coverage of the Japanese market during trading hours and rebroadcasts the American cable business news network CNBC during off-hours and on weekends. With a circulation of 4.6 million for its morning edition, the Nikkei has the world's largest circulation as a business and economic daily.
