Turkish modular construction company Karmod has delivered container-based site buildings to support the construction of a mass housing project in the country’s southern Hatay district, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

The facilities, designed to serve as dormitories for workers building the housing units, were completed in just 39 days.

Karmod Sales Manager Ozay Kemal Karakucuk said the dormitories can accommodate 400 workers simultaneously.

"We delivered the prefabricated site office and two dormitory blocks, each with a footprint of 1,552 square meters, within a short time frame," Karakucuk said.

The modular buildings feature a bolt-and-nut assembly system, eliminating the need for welding, and are equipped with fire safety systems, climate control, and ergonomic designs, he added.

"Our site buildings are part of a worker-friendly range, offering relaxing rest and work areas. They are produced in state-of-the-art facilities and provide rapid installation advantages," Karakucuk said.

The total area of the structures delivered spans 3,388 square meters, including two three-story container dormitories and a two-story prefabricated office building covering 284 square meters. The office will house site management staff and other operational units.

The project is part of a larger effort to construct 854 housing units in Hatay's Defne district, a region significantly impacted by earthquakes on Feb. 6, 2023.
