New home sales in US jump 8% in December
Estimated 668,000 new homes sold in 2023, 4.2% more than in 2022; average sale price stood at $487,300 in December
ISTANBUL
New home sales in the US jumped 8% in December from the previous month, according to a report released Thursday by the Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Sales of new single‐family homes were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 664,000, it said.
New home sales, which show the number of new single-family homes sold, were estimated to come in at 645,000 last month. The figure stood at 615,000 in November.
New home sales in December were 4.4% above the same month in 2022 when the figure stood at 636,000.
"An estimated 668,000 new homes were sold in 2023. This is 4.2 percent above the 2022 figure of 641,000," the agencies said in a statement.
The median sale price of new homes sold was $413,200 in December while the average price was $487,300, according to the report.
