Turkey’s total electricity consumption for 2014 is estimated to be 256 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh), a increase of 4.1 percent compared to last year, according to the Turkish Electricity Production Company (TEIAS).
Turkey consumed 245.5 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity in 2013.
The country's total electricity production for 2014 is estimated to be 309.9 billion kWh, while the production was 239.3 billion kWh in 2013.
Turkey imported almost 5 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity last year from countries such as Bulgaria, Greece, the Czech Republic and Denmark, paying almost $335 million.
Meanwhile, Turkey's total domestic gas consumption for 2014 is estimated to be 46.5 billion cubic meters, a decrease of 0.5 billion cubic meters from a year earlier, according to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
Turkey consumed 45.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2012, and 47 billion cubic meters in 2013.
