ANKARA
Turkey´s current account deficit (CAR) increased by 32.9 percent reaching US$65 billion in 2013 from $48.9 billion in 2012.
According to a report released by the Central Bank of Turkey (TCMB) on Thursday, the CAR rose to $16.5 billion in 2013.
The CAR was recorded at $8.3 billion in December 2013, a sharp increase of 111 percent compared with $3.93 billion in November.
According to a survey by Anadolu Agency, Turkey's current account deficit was expected to stand at $7.6 billion for December 2013.
In the same survey, the average year-end current account deficit expectations were $63.1 billion, with the highest at $64.2 billion and the lowest at $58 billion.
The current account deficit in November 2013 reached $3.93 billion from $4.08 billion over the same month in 2012 - a decrease of 3.5 percent.
