Turkey's current accounts deficit was down to 36.08 billion USD in the first eight months of 2012.
The Central Bank of Turkey made public on Thursday balance of payments figures for the first eight months of 2012.
The bank said the current accounts deficit was down 18.1 billion USD to 36.08 billion USD year-on-year in January-August 2012.
"This development is mainly attributable to USD 16.1 billion decrease in foreign trade deficit recording USD 45.1 billion and USD 1.4 billion increase in net services income reaching to USD 13.1 billion, as well as USD 718 million decrease in net income outflows recording USD 4.8 billion," the bank said.
It said, "Under services account, the travel revenues increased by USD 81 million recording USD 14.8 billion while travel expenditures decreased by USD 671 million recording USD 2.5 billion compared to the same period of the previous year."
