ANKARA
The number of Turkish households consuming over 133 Turkish Lira (approximately $60 dollars) worth of electricity a month has increased by 200 thousand in the last two months, according to the Turkish Electricity Transmission Company, who operate and maintain Turkey’s electricity grid.
The number of 'independent customers' as they are known, represent only two percent of Turkey's 34 million electricity consumers. However, this number is set to rise.
This rapid increase in electricity consumed by these customers has resulted in increased competition among Turkey's around 200 electricity suppliers who are offering incentives to grab more customers.
A ten percent discount in monthly bills is available - the higher the consumption the higher the discount.
