Turkish firm Karmod to build 1,500-person worker camp for Romanian highway project
Container structures are equipped with special insulation to withstand the harsh winter conditions of the Carpathian Mountains, company manager says
ISTANBUL
Turkish manufacturing company Karmod has launched a project to build a worker camp with a capacity for 1,500 people to support the construction of a highway near Brasov, Romania, the company announced on Thursday.
Karmod Sales Manager Ozay Kemal Karakucuk stated that the project includes a comprehensive range of facilities, from dormitories to offices.
“We are producing and dispatching the 15,343 square meter container structures within 45 days. These structures will accommodate 1,500 personnel simultaneously and include dormitories, dining halls, offices, kitchens, common areas, laboratories, and laundries,” he said.
The dormitory buildings are specifically designed to house engineers, foremen, and workers, with a total bed capacity of 1,032 people.
The project is being executed using demountable container models, which are transported to Romania by road, allowing for simultaneous factory production and on-site installation.
Karakucuk highlighted that the container structures are equipped with special insulation to withstand the harsh winter conditions of the Carpathian Mountains.
“Our buildings, used in the Sibiu-Fagaras highway construction, feature stone wool insulation in walls, roof panels, and floors to ensure optimal climate comfort for personnel during severe winter conditions,” he added.
