ANKARA
Turkey's benchmark stock index ended midweek trading up 0.88% to close at 103,457.26 points on Wednesday.
Starting the day at 102,809.75 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 901.11 points from Tuesday's close at 102,556.15 points.
On Wednesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 101,769.31 points and 103,457.26 points -- 48 stocks on the index rose, 39 fell, and 13 were flat compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of nearly 687 billion Turkish liras ($121 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 6.65 billion Turkish liras ($1.16 billion).
By market capitalization, Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding ($8.56 billion), private lenders Garanti BBVA ($7.27 billion), and Akbank ($6.97 billion) were the leading companies of BIST 100.
Shares of Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and Akbank saw the highest trading volumes on Wednesday -- accounting for around 44% of the benchmark index's total trade volume.
Shares of conglomerate Ihlas Holding (IHLAS) were the best performers -- up 9.30% -- as stocks of real estate investment trust Is Gayrimenkul (ISGYO) fell the most with a 2.94% drop.
An ounce of gold was sold for $1,425.00 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,419.70 at the previous close.
The price of Brent oil was $64.27 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Wednesday, with a day range of $63.69 to $64.66.
At the beginning of 2019, a barrel of Brent oil was sold for around $53.
