Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opens slightly higher, up 0.18%

ISTANBUL

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index, BIST 100, saw a slight rise of 0.18% or 16.26 points to open Friday’s trading at 9,018.59 points.

On Thursday, the index had dipped 0.52%, ending the day at 9,002.34 points, with a daily transaction volume of 80 billion Turkish liras ($2.34 billion).

As of 11.30 am local time (0830 GMT), the exchange rate for the US dollar against the Turkish lira (USD/TRY) stood at 34.2870, while the euro/Turkish lira (EUR/TRY) exchange rate was at 37.2130, and the British pound/Turkish lira (GBP/TRY) rate was at 44.7340.

In commodities, the ounce price of gold was at $2,702.90, while Brent crude oil was trading at around $74.20 per barrel.
