Almost all US stocks closed with gains on Thursday, while the Dow Jones ended the day flat.

The Dow Jones industrial average posted no change during the day, which it finished at 43,729.34.

The S&P 500 added 44.06 points, or 0.74%, to reach 5,973.10. The Nasdaq also increased 285.99 points, or 1.51%, to end at 19,269.46.

The VIX volatility index, referred to as the "fear index," fell 6.02% to 15.29.

The US dollar index slipped 0.72% to 104.2, while the EUR/USD exchange rate rose by 0.69%.

Precious metals were in positive territory. Gold earned 1.72% to around $2,705 per ounce and silver rose by 2.59% to $31.95 as of 2115 GMT.

Oil prices increased around 0.31%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $75.30.
