ANKARA

Protests and strikes against environmental degradation continued across the globe in July, with demonstrators demanding decisive action to tackle climate change.

Activists and netizens continued street protests and online campaigns. Events included Fridays for Future's weekly protests as well as anti-government protests for failing climate policies.

Below is a timeline of protests and demonstrations compiled by Anadolu Agency:

July 1:

- Climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness about climate change during the first Fridays for Future strike of the month with nonprofit groups supporting their efforts.

- Climate activists, including members of Extinction Rebellion, participate in a demonstration in front of the Thurgood Marshall US Courthouse against a recent Supreme Court decision that "hinders" the country's Environmental Protection Agency.

July 5:

Just Stop Oil supporters in the UK spray paint inside the Royal Academy and glue their hands onto the frame of The Last Supper, to protest the use of fossil fuels.

- A group of activists from Fossil Free and Climate Rangers hold a demonstration in the Jalan Sudirman area in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta, demanding that funding for coal mining in the country stop immediately.

- Animal rights activists wearing dinosaur costumes and holding banners take part in a protest against bullfights ahead of the San Fermin festival in Navarre, Spain.

July 6:

- A group of scientists block Autobahn traffic in Berlin to urge the government to focus more on scientific facts as well as the threat of collapse of the climate, ecosystems and society.

- Climate activists decry the European Parliament's decision to label natural gas as "green energy," saying it would harm the needed transition to clean energy.

- The doctor section of Extinction Rebellion disrupts a JP Morgan Corporate Challenge in London, carrying a banner that reads: "JP Morgan commit climate neglect."

July 7:

- Protesters gather at Virunga National Park in the Congo to protest a decision regarding tenders for 16 oil blocks across the country.

- Residents of Sangihe Island, hold a demonstration in front of the Energy and Mineral Resource Ministry, calling for the revocation of the mining permit on the Indonesian island.

July 8:

- On the second Fridays for Future strike in July, climate activists and environmental protesters continue to raise awareness about climate change and environmental issues.

- Members of the "Christian climate action" group interrupt a meeting inside the Church of England, holding a banner that reads: "Churches Divest Now."

July 9:

- Extinction Rebellion protesters in DC block the entrance to the Washington Gas headquarters to draw attention to ending fossil fuel use.

July 11:

- Seven Extinction Rebellion protesters are arrested after the group occupied a Welsh mine by setting off powder flares and climbing onto the roof of the site's office.

July 12:

- To protest the government's environment policy, French climate group, Derniere Renovation, disrupts the Tour de France, forcing participants to stop.

- A climate activist from the "Letzte Generation" group glues herself to Berlin’s roads to cause “peaceful friction."

July 29:

- Ten-year-old Indian climate activist Licypriya Kangujam, accompanied by a group of environmentalists, holds a weekly climate protest in Lucknow, saying "no climate justice, no rest."
