Russia says 1 killed, 4 injured in Ukraine's overnight attack

Russia on Sunday said that one person was killed and four others were injured in overnight Ukrainian airstrikes.

In Russia's Belgorod region, one person was killed and another injured as a Ukrainian drone struck a car in the village of Golovchino, the regional operations headquarters said on Telegram.

In the Rostov region, drones damaged two apartment buildings and injured three people, regional Governor Yury Slyusar said on Telegram.

Slyusar said the region came under a "massive air attack," and that 30 drones were destroyed.

A drone crash sparked a fire at a plant in the Ryazan region, with no preliminary reports of injuries, Gov. Pavel Malkov said on Telegram.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed the country’s forces shot down 258 drones across the country, as well as over annexed Crimea and the waters of the Sea of Azov and Black Sea.

Meanwhile, a Russian air attack on border infrastructure at a border crossing with Romania prompted the temporary suspension of operations at the Orlivka checkpoint, the operational headquarters of the Izmail Regional State Administration said on Telegram.

The independent verification of the claims from both sides remains difficult due to the ongoing war

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, visited Moscow on Saturday. They are expected in Kyiv on Sunday as part of US-mediated efforts to negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war."
