The Council of Heads of State and Government of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is set to convene in the Azerbaijani capital Baku in 2026, the group’s Secretary General Kairat Sarybay said on Friday.
The summit will take place during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the group, he told Azerbaijan's Report news agency.
Sarybay also announced that an extraordinary meeting of the CICA Council of Foreign Ministers will also be held in Baku this year.
"As part of our visit to Baku, we held extensive discussions with Azerbaijani officials to prepare for the 2026 summit, the extraordinary CFM meeting in 2025, and to outline a strategic plan for all CICA governing and advisory bodies, as well as the secretariat, to effectively implement Azerbaijan’s priorities during its chairmanship," he said.
Founded in 1999, the group includes 28 member states and 10 observer states.
