Bosnian farmers block border crossing with Croatia
Farmers say if their demands are not met, they would stage more protests that could last for days
ORASJE, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Farmers in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday blocked the country’s border crossing Orasje with Croatia, demanding the release of promised subsidies for wheat production.
Farmers from different parts of the country participated in the demonstration with their tractors and temporarily blocked the Orasje border gate.
Perica Marosevic, a protesting farmer, said that the action was a “first warning” and that they are struggling to survive.
If their demands are not met, he said, farmers are ready to stage more demonstrations that could last for days, he added.
